 Canada has been attracting a lot of skilled population into the country through their various programs. One of the programs is the Provincial Nominee program which they started in the mid-1990s. After Ontario, it is the province of British Columbia that is most sought after. This province came up with a new stream called as the BCPNP tech pilot program which they started in 2018. It was supposed to be a 3 year pilot program but has got extended to June 2021. Just as Ontario, they too invite both skilled professionals and Business investors into the province. British Columbia Immigration program invites health care providers, teachers, engineers and others into the province to fill in their job vacancies. The province came up with their tech pilot project to identify the right personnel who could bring in the required technology knowhow. The BCPNP is also associated with the Federal Government Express Entry program. BCPNP through the tech pilot project allows the employers in British Columbia to exercise their right to employ required professionals.

Manitoba is another strong province which attracts skilled professionals into the province. The province is house for more than 100,000 lakes. About one-fifth of the land mass of the province is covered with forest. The province has a mixed economy of urban orientation and is of multi-ethnic character. Manitoba during the 2020 pandemic period could be one of those provinces in Canada which has been able to maintain a steady economy. This province invites professionals and business investors through their Manitoba Immigrant nominee program. Manitoba encourages finer agricultural practices and agriculture has always been an important contributor to the economy of Manitoba. Forestry, fishing and mining are other important contributors to the economy of Manitoba. It is also the province where major hydro-electricity plant is located here due to the large water bodies inter-linked. In the recent times manufacturing of goods has taken dominance in the province.

Canada immigration through provincial nomination program has provided the provinces the right streams through which they can attract the best skills into the province. The provincial nominee program is second to Express Entry system in its popularity. On qualification, this pathway provides you nomination with which you could proceed to apply for permanent residency with the IRCC. You need to identify the eligibility criteria defined by each of the provinces where you intend to relocate to and accordingly prepare your profile and your application. Once your profile is shortlisted, you will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply). You should respond to the ITA within 30 days of receiving the ITA with filled applications and relevant documents.

Provincial nominee program eligibility points are lesser in comparison to the Canada immigration express entry process. However, the process time for PNP would take more than that of the Express entry program. It could take 6 months to 8 months for the aspirant to get a nomination from the province. Once this is done, you can proceed to apply for Permanent residency. If you earn your nomination from a said province, then your score will automatically raise by 600 points.

Provinces are coming up with newer immigration pathways to get hold of the right skilled professionals. Many provinces invite immigrants with farming background too with an intention to develop farmland and agri business. There are many examples of immigrant farmers who have made gold in Canada and USA.

Canada also invites entrepreneurs into the province with a bid to increase their economy and to create job opportunities for the locals there.
