Criminal Rehabilitation

Criminal rehabilitation can permanently end criminal disapproval. If Canada approves your criminal rehabilitation request, your criminal record will no longer bar you from visiting Canada as long as you do not commit other crimes. You cannot apply for rehabilitation until at least five years have passed since your last conviction.

The application fee you pay depends on the severity of your crime, ranging from $200 for non-felony rehabilitation to $1,000 for felony.

If you have been convicted of a non-serious crime for at least 10 years, you may be considered innocent. In this case, under Canadian law, you are automatically presumed innocent and you do not need to apply before visiting.
